Iran's Fars News Agency reported on the 11th (local time) that "Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was briefed on the passenger plane downing at an emergency Supreme National Security Council meeting and ordered that the information be made public."
The Iranian judiciary also stated, "Judiciary Chief Ebrahim Raisi instructed the military judiciary on the same day to gather documents for legal action regarding this tragedy," adding, "Those responsible will be severely punished through a military trial."
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani emphasized, "The truth of this horrific incident must be clearly and thoroughly investigated," and said, "Those responsible for this unforgivable mistake must be identified and punished." The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which fired the missile, also announced that it would disclose detailed information about the incident to the media.

The Ukrainian passenger plane that was shot down crashed on the 8th near Imam Khomeini Airport on the outskirts of Tehran while en route to Kyiv, Ukraine, due to unknown reasons.
