Gwangju Bank Receives Commendation from Financial Supervisory Service for Preventing Financial Fraud Victimization
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Bank (President Song Jong-wook) announced on the 9th that it received a certificate of appreciation for ‘Outstanding Employees in Preventing Telecommunication Financial Fraud in 2019’ from the Financial Supervisory Service Gwangju Jeonnam Branch (Branch Chief Park Jong-soo) on the 6th.
This certificate of appreciation was awarded under the name of the Financial Supervisory Service to five outstanding branch employees who prevented telecommunication financial fraud last year.
These five employees, who prevented financial fraud amounting to 77 million won through proactive responses without overlooking customers’ minor attitudes and reactions, unanimously emphasized the need for special caution as voice phishing scammers, who approach victims using various methods, have recently been thoroughly preparing answers to bank employees’ questions by first identifying withdrawal reasons and remitter personal information before requesting cash and check withdrawals.
Gwangju Bank prevented a total of 64 cases worth 320 million won in 2017, 84 cases worth 710 million won in 2018, and 103 cases worth 1.3 billion won last year.
