Volvo Korea "Sales Target of 12,000 Units This Year... Expanding Service Centers by 25%"
[Asia Economy Reporter Su-yeon Woo] Volvo Cars Korea has set a sales target of 12,000 units this year and announced plans to pursue qualitative growth by expanding service centers by more than 25% compared to before.
On the 7th, Volvo Korea announced that it has set this year's sales target at 12,000 units, a 14% increase from the previous year. It also emphasized that it has secured more than 50% additional supply of major new models such as the XC40, Cross Country (V60), and S60, which are highly popular and require a wait of over six months for delivery compared to last year.
In addition, the company plans to continue its growth momentum by promoting qualitative growth through expanding its service network and social contribution investments. Volvo Korea plans to expand its service centers by 25% compared to the previous year. Following the expansion to 24 centers last year, it will newly open a total of six centers this year, including Bundang Pangyo, Jeju, and Uijeongbu, and expand centers in Haeundae, Cheonan, and Suwon, securing a total network of 30 centers.
To increase customer touchpoints, the number of showrooms will expand from the existing 24 to 29, with five additional locations including Bundang Pangyo, Jeju, and Uijeongbu. Furthermore, the certified used car division, Volvo Selekt, which maintains the industry's highest level of residual value for used vehicles, will open a new showroom in Suwon in addition to the existing Gimpo showroom.
In the second half of the year, there are also plans to launch the facelifted models of the S90 and Cross Country (V90), which are currently scheduled for global unveiling.
Last year, Volvo Korea recorded sales of 10,570 units, a 24.0% increase from the previous year, surpassing 10,000 units in annual sales for the first time since its entry into the domestic market. This represents eight consecutive years of double-digit growth and was achieved despite the domestic imported car market recording negative growth (-6.1%) last year.
In particular, the S60 and Cross Country (V60) played a pivotal role in achieving record-high performance. The S60 accounted for 9.9% of total sales with 1,050 units sold in just four months since customer deliveries began in September. Additionally, the crossover Cross Country (V60), introduced as a new alternative to sedans and SUVs, recorded sales of 980 units, driving the strong growth of the CC range. Among new customers by age group, those in their 30s accounted for 38.3%, establishing themselves as the core customer base, followed by those in their 40s (33.5%) and 50s (16.3%).
