The Korean stock market also moved significantly. The KOSPI index closed down 21.39 points (0.98%) at 2155.07. The KOSDAQ index also closed down 14.62 points (2.18%) at 655.31.
The Shanghai Composite Index in China was trading at 3:50 PM down 3.22 points (0.11%) at 3080.25.
At the same time, the Hong Kong Hang Seng Index was trading down 310.50 points (1.09%) at 28138.
On the day, Taiwan's TAIEX closed down 157.07 points (1.30%) at 11953.36.
