On the 6th, Lee Woong-jin appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and said, "Having operated a marriage information company for 28 years, I think I have come to understand the world," adding, "This year is the year of the Rat born in 1972, and while 920,000 people were born in 1972, it is said that only 300,000 will be born this year. The birth rate has dropped tremendously."
Regarding the pledge announced at the time of the party's founding to provide "30 million won in marriage encouragement funds," Lee said, "I somewhat regret that. 30 million won seems like a lot; I should have talked about around 20 million won," adding, "The pledges such as support for newlywed rental apartments and establishing 1,000 public childcare centers are ordinary, but we have hidden secret weapons, so please watch closely going forward."
In response to the recent increase in singlehood and DINK couples (dual-income, no kids), he explained, "We need to think about both the reasons not to marry and the reasons to marry, but over the past 20 to 30 years, the reasons not to marry have been explained," adding, "We will explain why marriage is necessary and why childbirth is necessary."
He continued, "I am a married person who 'regrets getting married,' but even so, I want to convey that there is value in getting married."
