Boseong County's First Donation of the New Year! Beolgyo Nonghyup Delivers Funds to Boseong County Scholarship Foundation
Boryeong Nonghyup Employees Collect 10.04 Million Won in Donations for Scholarship Fund
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Yong-chul] Beolgyo Agricultural Cooperative opened the door to the first donation of the new year in Boseong-gun with the sole intention of contributing even a little to local students who are the future leaders of Boseong.
On the 3rd, Beolgyo Nonghyup announced that its employees collectively donated 10.04 million won in scholarship funds to the Boseong-gun Scholarship Foundation.
Kim Ki-soon, chairman of Beolgyo Nonghyup, said, “We entrusted this scholarship fund with the hope that it will be of some help to our local students who are the future leaders of Boseong.”
Park Ho-bae, director of the Boseong-gun Scholarship Foundation, said, “Since 2011, there has been a generous donor who has entrusted 36 million won in scholarships over 10 years in the Beolgyo area,” adding, “We will passionately engage in the local talent development project to ensure that the precious scholarship funds are delivered to our local children who are devoted to their studies.”
The Boseong-gun Scholarship Foundation supported 80 million won to three schools through the prestigious high school fostering support project in 2019, and 20 million won to two schools through the vocational high school special aptitude development support project.
Also, the scholarship payments, which were previously made once a year, were expanded to twice a year in the first and second half, providing scholarships totaling 165 million won to 170 scholarship students.
Kim Cheol-woo, mayor of Boseong-gun, said, “The precious funds collected by Beolgyo Nonghyup employees for their local juniors will be the nourishment that nurtures the dreams of the children,” and added, “Boseong-gun will also support the dreams of youth who will lead the region with solid educational policies.”

Meanwhile, the Boseong-gun Scholarship Foundation set a fund goal of 15 billion won and had raised 14.3 billion won as of the end of last year. As the scholarship fund target is nearing achievement, related ordinances are being revised to raise the fund goal to 20 billion won in 2020, and Boseong-gun plans to support the foundation with 1 billion won in contributions this year as well.
