On the afternoon of the 2nd, KBS 2TV's 'Happy Together 4' aired a special episode titled 'Life is Beautiful, Crisis is Nothing,' featuring Heo Ji-woong, Hwang Chi-yeul, Oh Jung-yeon, Kim Hyung-jun, and Baek Cheong-gang.
During the broadcast, Heo Ji-woong shared his experience battling blood cancer.
He said, "When undergoing chemotherapy, side effects continuously occur. My whole body swelled up so much that I couldn't walk or even hold objects properly. I also hiccupped all day and felt nauseous, so I couldn't eat well," adding, "I hated seeing myself in such a state, so I removed all the mirrors in my house."
He continued, "If there hadn't been someone giving me strength in the middle, I don't think I could have endured it."
The person Heo Ji-woong referred to was Yoo Jae-suk. Heo recalled, "When I first got sick, Jae-suk hyung sent me a few text messages. They were everyday conversations like, 'Are you having a hard time? Let's meet sometime later.' Honestly, I was in so much pain then that I had really hit rock bottom."
He added, "But receiving those messages made me feel like I had returned to my normal self. I remember taking a shower and sleeping comfortably afterward," expressing his gratitude by saying, "I think Yoo Jae-suk has some kind of magic."
Regarding Park Myung-soo, who appeared as an MC, Heo Ji-woong said, "I didn't even know him, but he called me. He said, 'I'm going to send you a text, so take a look,' and then sent a video. It was about 'If you get cancer, walk barefoot on the soil,' but since it was after my chemotherapy ended, I didn't follow it," which made the cast laugh.
Previously, in December 2018, Heo Ji-woong was diagnosed with malignant lymphoma, a type of blood cancer, and withdrew from all broadcasts to focus on chemotherapy. After completing chemotherapy in May last year, Heo Ji-woong was declared fully recovered in August and returned to broadcasting.
