Gangbuk-gu Mayor Park Gyeom-su Takes First Step Toward 'Hope Gangbuk' at Bukhansan Sidanbong Summit
On New Year's Day at Bukhansan Sidanbong, over 400 citizens join to wish for a strong start and well-being of Gangbuk-gu... Focused promotion in 7 key areas: development, historical cultural tourism, environment, welfare, education, safety
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (District Mayor Park Gyeom-su) took the hopeful first step of the new year on the 1st at Sidanbong, Bukhansan, with about 400 citizens participating.
Unfortunately, the weather was cloudy with snowflakes flying, so the sun was not seen that day, but Mayor Park Gyeom-su of Gangbuk-gu and the citizens shouted cheers, wishing for a vigorous start and well-being of Gangbuk-gu. Citizens exchanged greetings and well-wishes, welcoming the new year energetically.
Mayor Park Gyeom-su of Gangbuk-gu announced his aspirations for this year to create a ‘Hopeful Gangbuk’ by focusing on seven key areas: development, historical and cultural tourism, environment, welfare, education, safety, and communication.
Looking closely at the 2020 policies, in the development sector, the district has set out to build an ‘attractive developing city’ through urban regeneration and revitalization of alley markets in Suyu 1-dong and the 4.19 Intersection area, as well as Eojin Village in Insu-dong, and supply of demand-tailored housing such as artist residences.
The ‘Healing Historical and Cultural Tourism City’ is a representative policy of the district. Marking its 60th anniversary, the existing April 19 Revolution National Cultural Festival will be developed into a nationwide patriotic cultural event, and through the Bukhansan Historical and Cultural Tourism Belt Project, a 1-night 2-day storytelling tourist destination will be created.
Additionally, the construction of Uidong Family Camping Site, Azalea Urban Agriculture Experience Center, an internationally scaled artificial rock climbing wall, and a comprehensive sports center will proceed.
The Clean Gangbuk Movement and citizen monitoring teams in the environmental sector will continue to be implemented.
Furthermore, through real-time fine dust level monitoring, creation of beautiful school routes via green spaces, cigarette butt collection reward system, and expanded installation of rainwater catchment strainers to reduce microplastics, the district plans to build an ‘eco-friendly green city.’
For a ‘Comfortable Welfare City,’ a lifelong education center for people with developmental disabilities and a Dreamdong-i preparatory school for multicultural families will operate. Newly, the Gangbuk Disabled Comprehensive Welfare Center, Social Economy Support Center, one shared childcare space, and two Our Neighborhood Care Centers will be expanded. Customized care for the elderly and a check-in service using IoT technology will be implemented.
