Gwangjin-gu Youth Self-Support 'Ttasi Haru Coffee & Bakery Project Team' Smooth Sailing
Opening of the 3rd Branch of 'Hyu-ON Cafe' in Guui 1-dong to Support Jobs for Low-Income Groups
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) opened the ‘Ttasi Haru’ Coffee & Bakery Project Group supporting youth self-sufficiency on the 18th of last month in Guui 3-dong.
The ‘Ttasi Haru’ project group is a type of youth independence challenge self-sufficiency project that supports participants aged 18 to 39 residing in Gwangjin-gu to lead their own change and growth.
‘Ttasi Haru’ means a warm and cool day, a name created by the youth participating in the project group. Here, nine conditional beneficiaries work in two shifts from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The workers are supported by the Seoul Gwangjin Regional Self-Sufficiency Center, the project executing organization, to find jobs suited to the characteristics and personalities of the youth, and the coffee beans for the project group are supplied by the self-sufficiency enterprise ‘The Nanum Coffee Cooperative’.
Additionally, the district opened the ‘Hyu-ON Cafe’ self-sufficiency project group in Guui 1-dong on the 23rd of last month to support jobs for low-income groups.
Here, four conditional beneficiaries work in two shifts from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and the plan is to add more low-income residents later to operate with 10 people.
‘Hyu-ON Cafe’ means ‘turning on rest,’ and it operates with seven new massage chairs and four foot bath facilities, offering coffee, tea, and bakery items.
Besides these, the district has about 130 residents participating in 15 self-sufficiency labor project groups, running various self-sufficiency programs in convenience stores, restaurants, bicycle repair, card delivery, and other fields.

Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We will actively support youth and low-income residents by promoting various customized self-sufficiency labor projects beyond simple labor and universal self-sufficiency jobs to provide opportunities for independence and self-sufficiency and to help them obtain quality jobs.”
