"There are no limits to robot vacuum cleaners."

Chinese robot vacuum cleaners are evolving. On the morning of January 7, 2026 (local time), the second day of the world's largest home appliance and IT exhibition, CES 2026, Chinese home appliance company Roborock demonstrated its new robot vacuum model, Saros Rover, at its booth inside the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, USA. At last year's CES, Roborock attracted attention with its Saros Z70, a robot equipped with a gripping arm, and this year, the company drew notice again by unveiling a robot vacuum cleaner with legs. A large number of attendees filled the booth to watch the Roborock demonstration.

This year's exhibition showcased Chinese robot vacuum cleaners equipped with even more diverse features. Another Chinese company, Dreame, demonstrated its pool robot vacuum cleaner, the Z1 Pro, actively cleaning underwater. This robot vacuum is equipped with waterproof capabilities, allowing it to be controlled while submerged. It can learn the structure of a pool and systematically clean the floor, walls, and waterline. The product is targeted at North American customers who own home swimming pools.

There was also significant interest in the "CyberX," a model that combines with a special device to climb up and down stairs. There were a variety of other models as well, including robot vacuums that can cross doorsteps, vacuums that swiftly avoid objects lying on the floor, and vacuums equipped with gripping arms to pick up and organize items.

At IFA 2025, held in Berlin, Germany last August, Chinese companies such as Roborock, Ecovacs, and Mova competed by unveiling robot vacuum cleaners capable of surmounting doorsteps up to 8 centimeters high. In contrast, at this CES, most robot vacuum product lines were essentially able to easily cross doorsteps as a basic feature. Beyond the functions of robotic arms and crossing thresholds, the technology has now evolved to the point where they can mimic actual human legs.

On this day at the CES venue, Chinese robot vacuum brands such as Ecovacs, Narwal, and Mova could be seen throughout the exhibition hall. During its showcase, Ecovacs unveiled its vision to further expand the application scope of robotics by presenting next-generation multi-scenario robot solutions. At this CES, the company also introduced its new product, the Osmo Roller-an automatic cleaning mop robot vacuum cleaner.
