In a blind test of coffee dripper products conducted by a coffee expert, Daiso took first place, beating out well-known brands. The expert could not hide his surprise at the unexpected result.

YouTuber Ansta, who has 230,000 subscribers, recently tested three types of coffee drippers in a video titled "Is the 5,000 won dripper sold at Daiso usable?"

After tasting, when revealing the identity, Ansta was speechless. The product he chose as 'the most delicious' and ranked first was the Daiso dripper.

Ansta, co-founder of the coffee brand Unspecialty and a YouTuber with 230,000 subscribers, recently tested three types of coffee drippers in a video titled "Is the 5,000 won dripper sold at Daiso usable?"

The drippers tested were: the Daiso coffee dripper (5,000 won), the Hario Double Metal Dripper (about 30,000 won), and the Hario V60 dripper, which uses paper filters. Ansta first introduced the Daiso dripper, saying, "I bought it because I was curious that it could be used without a filter." The product features a double-layered metal mesh, with a fine inner mesh and a somewhat larger outer mesh. Due to its seemingly lower build quality, Ansta also expected that the Hario dripper, which is six times more expensive, would naturally perform better.

All three products were compared using the same beans and recipe (10g, identical grind size and extraction conditions). The experiment showed that the Daiso dripper extracted coffee the fastest, while the Hario Double Metal Dripper had the longest extraction time.

However, the real competition was in the taste. In a blind tasting of the three cups, Ansta ranked the Daiso dripper first, followed by the Hario Double Metal Dripper and the V60 dripper. He praised the Daiso dripper, saying, "The apricot-like acidity was clearly expressed." In contrast, the Hario Metal had a more pronounced nutty flavor but was somewhat bland, while the V60 was less impactful when hot but became cleaner as it cooled.

When the identities were revealed, he was speechless-it turned out that the product he had chosen as "the most delicious" and ranked first was the Daiso dripper. He repeatedly expressed his astonishment, saying, "Wow. This is crazy. Daiso is seriously crazy." Ansta added, "The syrupy sweetness from a slight graininess is appealing," and concluded, "For hot coffee, the Daiso coffee dripper was overwhelmingly number one."

Separate from the taste evaluation, some drawbacks in practical use were also pointed out. The Daiso dripper makes it difficult to remove coffee grounds, making the cleaning process cumbersome. Ansta noted, "If you throw the grounds directly into the sink, it could clog, so you need to dispose of them separately," highlighting this inconvenience.

Nevertheless, in his overall assessment, he said, "I was surprised by how good the filtration was. It's great for beginners to use without any pressure, and you can fully enjoy even high-end beans." He added, "If you're just making coffee simply, I recommend using the Daiso metal filter instead of spending extra money."
