Faint Cries Amid US Tornado Ruins... Kitten Miraculously Survives
Kitten Survives Tornado Debris
Flood of Adoption Requests... "Some Are Calling It 'Tornado'"
A story about a "storm chaser" in the United States who safely rescued a kitten from tornado debris has been drawing attention. Storm chasers are individuals who take risks to observe and film tornadoes or storms by following them closely.
According to AP News Agency on May 10 (local time), at least three tornadoes struck the southern region of Mississippi on May 6, damaging hundreds of homes.
In the early morning right after the tornado swept through, storm chaser Ashton Lamley was searching a trailer park that had been reduced to debris when he heard the faint cries of a kitten. However, the cries were so quiet that it was difficult to pinpoint the exact location. Lamley was determined to find the kitten, but the cries suddenly stopped, making him fear the worst.
Fortunately, about five minutes later, the faint cries resumed. In an interview with AP News Agency, Lamley recalled, "I realized it was still alive." He dug through the wreckage of the collapsed structure with his hands and eventually found the kitten hiding between wooden posts. The kitten was soaking wet and visibly frightened.
Lamley also recorded a video of the rescue moment. In the footage, he is heard reassuring the kitten, saying, "Oh my God, I found you," "Are you okay? Come here, it's okay," and "Don't worry, little one."
Afterward, Lamley handed the kitten over to the United Cajun Navy, a volunteer disaster response organization. Members of the organization dried the kitten and moved it to a safe place. Lamley reported that "the kitten appeared to have very few injuries." Having chased storms since 2010, he said, "I've experienced many situations like this," and added, "I try not to get emotionally shaken, but seeing animals or people go through such things is truly heartbreaking."

It has been reported that there are ongoing online inquiries about adopting the kitten. Lamley said, "Someone has already started calling the kitten 'Tornado'." However, it is known that Lamley will not be able to adopt the kitten himself due to his cat allergy.
