View original imageAccording to legal sources on May 14, the Seoul High Court's Family Division 1 has scheduled the second mediation session for the retrial on the division of assets between Chairman Chey and Director No for 2 p.m. on June 15. At the first mediation session held the previous day, the court stated that it would set the next date for when both parties could attend.
Unlike the first session, where only Director No appeared, it is highly likely that Chairman Chey will also attend the second session in person. If both appear in court, it will be their first face-to-face meeting in court since the final hearing of the divorce appeal trial on April 16, 2024.
The first mediation session concluded with both sides presenting their respective positions. At the second session, substantive discussions are expected regarding core issues such as the scale of assets subject to division and the calculation method.

The main point of contention is whether Chairman Chey's shares in SK Inc. should be included in the division of assets. Chairman Chey’s side argues that the SK Inc. shares are personal assets acquired through inheritance and gifts, and therefore should not be subject to division. In contrast, Director No’s side contends that she contributed by handling childcare and housework over many years, enabling Chairman Chey to focus on business activities, and thus those shares should be regarded as joint marital property.
