Consulting Available Before Jeonse Contracts... Legal Status Analysis and Wording Review
Ministry of Land and HUG to Launch Program at Eight Damage and Prevention Support Centers
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that, starting from the 18th, it will launch a safe contract consulting program at eight Jeonse Fraud Victim and Prevention Support Centers across the country in collaboration with the Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG).
This program assists prospective tenants entering into lease agreements by offering consultations on analyzing the legal status of the leased property, reviewing the wording of lease contract certificates, and providing guidance on precautions for safe lease contracts prior to signing. Certified real estate agents appointed by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport after being recommended by the Korea Association of Realtors will provide the consultations. The centers are located in Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Incheon, Gwangju, Daejeon, Gyeonggi, and Jeonnam.
This initiative is being promoted to prevent jeonse fraud following the amendment of the Special Act on Jeonse Fraud last month. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport also plans to work with local governments and other organizations to dispatch appointed real estate agents to universities, military bases, and other locations to offer consultations. Han Seong-su, Director of the Jeonse Fraud Victim Support Team at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, stated, "We will continue to collaborate with related organizations, including Jeonse Fraud Victim and Prevention Support Centers nationwide, to promote safe contract consulting and foster a culture of safe lease agreements."
