Sungmin Hong Inaugurated as Second President of the Korean Music MIDI Association

View original imageThe Korean Music MIDI Association announced on March 26 that Sungmin Hong has been inaugurated as its second president.
The inauguration ceremony, held on March 24, was attended by Sihah Lee, Chairman of the Korea Music Copyright Association, Seunghan Lee, Vice President of the Korean Music MIDI Association, association delegates, and other figures from the music industry.
In his inaugural address, President Sungmin Hong stated, "Computer music is currently the core competitive strength of K-pop," adding, "I will take the lead in strengthening MIDI education and protecting the rights and interests of computer musicians." He also emphasized, "The Korean Music MIDI Association will serve as a strong support, contributing to the global status of K-pop."
At present, computer-based music production has become the norm in the Korean music creation scene. Most of the top-ranking tracks on major digital music charts are also produced based on MIDI technology.
Accordingly, under the new president, the association has identified the following as its key initiatives: protecting the rights and interests of computer musicians; operating systematic MIDI education programs; and contributing to the sustainable development of the Korean music industry. The association includes many of Korea's hit songwriters among its members, whose expertise is expected to further support its activities.
