Lee Youngwoo, the Democratic Party candidate for mayor of Boryeong, announced his second campaign pledge, the establishment of the 'Boryeong-Type Education Special Zone,' at the city hall press room on the 11th.
View original imageLee Youngwoo, the Democratic Party candidate for Mayor of Boryeong in South Chungcheong Province, announced his pledge to create a "Boryeong-type Education Special Zone" focused on narrowing educational gaps and fostering local talent.
On the 11th, Lee held a press conference at the Boryeong City Hall press room and promised to introduce an "Employment-linked High School–Enterprise Education Program." He pledged to establish a system in which the region directly nurtures customized talent needed by companies and connects them to employment opportunities.
He also revealed plans to designate Boryeong as an Education Development and Internationalization Special Zone, and to introduce the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum.
Additionally, he emphasized, "We will support the operation of a public gifted education center and a future science experience center in connection with AI and future industries, so that Boryeong can be the first to experience future industries."
He also stated his commitment to thoroughly respond to the university admissions system reform scheduled for 2028. Lee said, "Educational disparities between the capital region and local areas should not cause disadvantages," and promised, "We will operate a public academy and college admissions consulting center, and expand intensive, customized education programs for students in the middle and lower tiers."
He also pledged to foster global talent by expanding overseas training and global camps, supporting international cultural exchange programs, and attracting regionally tailored university campuses with employment linkages, so that young people can dream on a global stage.

Lee stated, "We will make Boryeong a city where raising a child becomes a shared responsibility of the community, not just a burden for parents," and added, "To achieve this, we will provide 100% support for school uniforms and supplies for vulnerable groups, and simultaneously promote educational welfare such as nurturing talent in arts and physical education."
