In his speech, Kang stated, "The Mokpo we love is facing hard times," diagnosing that "citizens worry about the city hall's empty coffers, and over the past 10 years, 32,000 people have left Mokpo."
He continued, "Mokpo is facing a triple crisis: industrial stagnation, population decline, and a fiscal emergency." He added, "We will transform Mokpo New Port into an offshore wind power hub and nurture the seaweed industry as a flagship sector, turning industrial decline into renewed vitality."
He also emphasized, "Through establishing a youth office and policies for young people and newlyweds, we will reverse the population decrease into growth, and the fiscal crisis into financial stability, making the Mokpo Grand Transition a reality."
Kang asserted, "Mokpo can no longer afford to remain in the past. Citizens want a mayor who works, not one who leaves city affairs in disarray. I, Kang Sung-hwi, will prove myself with results, not just words."
He added, "A landslide victory for the Democratic Party is necessary for the Lee Jae-myung administration to perform even better. Please support Kang Sung-hwi of the Democratic Party, who can work in step with the government and secure more funding for Mokpo."
Kang concluded by appealing for support, saying, "I will revive Mokpo’s livelihood and economy and achieve the Mokpo Grand Transition. Please help open a new chapter for Mokpo with the power of our citizens."
After the ceremony, citizens and supporters at Mokpo Station Square created a festive atmosphere by chanting campaign slogans and performing coordinated dances to the campaign theme song.
