The event was attended by educational leaders, parents, and local supporters who gathered in large numbers to pledge their determination for victory. The launch ceremony included the national pledge, introduction of guests, speeches of support, presentation of the election campaign staff, and a campaign launch speech by the candidate, all of which heightened the atmosphere.
Participants chanted slogans such as "Gyeongnam Education Where Children Are Happy" and "Superintendent Opening the Future," showing their support for Kwon.
In his campaign launch speech, Kwon emphasized, "Gyeongnam must once again rise as the center of education in Korea," adding, "I will ensure the realization of 'Gyeongnam Education that people seek out,' where students, parents, and teachers are all satisfied."
He identified the following as key initiatives to achieve this: strengthening future-oriented AI education, closing educational gaps between regions, and creating safe and trusted schools.
Kwon stated, "Gyeongnam is a region that is growing based on industries such as aerospace defense and nuclear power," and pledged, "I will foster an environment where outstanding students from our region receive their education in Gyeongnam and grow into talents who will lead Korea's industries."
He particularly stressed that amid the risk of local extinction, educational competitiveness is equivalent to regional competitiveness, expressing his vision to make Gyeongnam a city that people choose because of its education.
The enthusiasm of supporters continued at the launch event. Participants voiced their hope for electoral victory, saying, "After 12 years of progressive education, Gyeongnam needs a new change, and Kwon Sungi is the only one who can achieve it."
Kwon stated, "This election is not just about choosing a superintendent, but it is an important decision that will determine the future of education in Gyeongnam. I will open a new era of Gyeongnam education together with the citizens."
