The project involved the completion of the Sonbul-myeon Seokchang Coast Complex Forest Landscape and the neighborhood forest garden near Nabi Base Town in Daedong-myeon.
This initiative aimed to address the shortage of green spaces by building urban forests spanning both residential and coastal areas, thereby providing an environment where nature can be enjoyed as part of everyday life.
The county tailored each urban forest to the specific characteristics of its location. In Seokchang, Sonbul-myeon, a complex forest landscape reflecting the coastal environment was created. Various types of trees and flowering plants were planted, including hackberry, black pine, crape myrtle, and Rosa rugosa, to offer scenic beauty throughout all four seasons. The county also refurbished an observation deck and parking spaces to improve accessibility and convenience for visitors.
Near Nabi Base Town in Daedong-myeon, a neighborhood urban forest was established. By utilizing unused spaces around the youth baseball team’s training grounds, a green rest area was created for both the athletes and local residents. A variety of trees and flowering plants were planted, and rest and walking areas were developed to strengthen the function of green spaces at the heart of the community.
The county expects that the newly introduced urban forests will serve as everyday spaces for rest and leisure for residents, while also becoming new scenic attractions and tourism content for visitors.
