'AI and Smart Care' Professor Minhong Lee of Dong-Eui University Elected President of the Korean Association for Gerontology and Welfare
Two-Year Term to Begin in 2027
Professor Minhong Lee from the Department of Social Welfare at Dong-Eui University (President Han Soo-Hwan) has been elected as the next president of the Korean Association for Gerontology and Welfare.
Professor Lee, who currently serves as vice president of the Korean Association for Gerontology and Welfare, was elected as the 15th president during the “2026 Korean Association for Gerontology and Welfare Spring Academic Conference” held on May 15 at Konkuk University's Glocal Campus in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, Dong-Eui University announced on May 19.
The term will last for two years, from January 2027 to December 2028.
President-elect Lee stated, “I will work to strengthen ongoing exchanges between academia and the field of geriatric welfare and promote research to guarantee the rights of older adults,” adding, “We will also expand research on the use of AI and smart care technologies, as well as support for future researchers.”

The Korean Association for Gerontology and Welfare is an academic organization in the field of elderly welfare, founded in 1998. The association promotes elderly welfare policy and academic research, publishes academic journals, and facilitates international academic exchanges. It has about 2,700 members, including professors, researchers, and field experts.
