Two Pedestrians Struck: One Dead, One Injured
The police have applied for an arrest warrant for a man in his 50s who caused the death of one pedestrian and injured another while driving under the influence.
On May 19, Seoul Gwanak Police Station announced that it had applied for an arrest warrant for a man in his 50s, identified as Mr. A, on charges of causing death and injury by dangerous driving under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.
According to the police, at approximately 8:30 p.m. the previous day, Mr. A, while intoxicated, drove a passenger car near an intersection in Bongcheon-dong, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, and struck two pedestrians, identified as Mr. B and Mr. C.
As a result of the accident, Mr. B suffered a head injury and died while receiving treatment at the hospital. After confirming Mr. B's death, the police immediately arrested Mr. A. Mr. C, who had jumped onto the road to rescue Mr. B, who was suffering from a mental illness, was also hit by Mr. A's car and suffered fractures.
