"With Scholarships, Alumni Are the Best"... Gaya High School Seoul Alumni Association Holds Freshman Welcome and Mentor Matching Ceremony
Encouraging Nine Freshmen Entering Universities in Seoul
Scholarship Awards and Mentoring Program Launched
The Gaya High School Alumni Association (President Song Nangeun, 29th class) and the Gaya High School Alumni Mentor Group (Head Woo Byeonghyeon, 29th class) held the '2026 Gaya High School Alumni Association New Student Welcome and Mentee-Mentor Matching Ceremony' at the Seoul Press Center on May 15.
The event was attended by nine freshmen who entered universities in Seoul this year and about 30 alumni from the Seoul metropolitan area.
Attendees included Song Nangeun, President of the Gaya High School Alumni Association; Woo Byeonghyeon, Head of the Gaya High School Alumni Mentor Group; Koo Kyungyeol, Chairman of the BNB Scholarship Foundation; Ha Daeryong, Advisor at POSCO Holdings; Kang Sinmyeon, Director of the Seoul Regional Public Procurement Service; and attorney Do Huntae. Principal Kim Seonju of Gaya High School, as well as former principals Kim Hwajeong and Park Hyeongjun, were also present to encourage the freshmen.
On the 15th, the '2026 Gaya High School Alumni Association New Student Welcome Ceremony and Mentee-Mentor Pairing Ceremony' was held at the Seoul Press Center.
View original imageDuring the event, the nine freshmen selected based on academic performance and school activities were awarded scholarships and certificates from the BNB Scholarship Foundation. Koo Kyungyeol, Chairman of the BNB Scholarship Foundation, also supported the event expenses in addition to the scholarships. Furthermore, a mentor matching ceremony was held to help freshmen adapt to university life and plan their future careers.
Starting this year, current Gaya High School alumni attending universities in Seoul will participate as junior mentors, continuing mentoring activities through regular meetings, special lectures, and retreats.
The mentor group will be led by alumnus Woo Byeonghyeon, while the junior mentor group will be headed by Koo Minji, CEO of My Care Psychological Counseling Center.
Song Nangeun, President of the Gaya High School Alumni Association, stated, "We will strive to ensure the alumni association can serve as a reliable support system for our juniors living in Seoul," adding, "We will continue to support freshmen and current students so they can realize their dreams."
