On May 19, SOS Lab announced that it had signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) with LG CNS to expand their global smart infrastructure business.
With this agreement, the two companies plan to jointly carry out projects to advance smart city, urban transportation, and security infrastructure in North America.
SOS Lab intends to utilize LG CNS’s global network to actively supply its advanced LiDAR-based infrastructure solutions to the North American market. LG CNS will incorporate SOS Lab’s LiDAR technology into its integrated operation center (IOC) solution, which is specialized for smart transportation, to develop solutions optimized for the North American environment. The IOC is a system for integrated monitoring and management of transportation, safety, and infrastructure data within urban areas.
SOS Lab’s infrastructure solutions are built on intelligent systems that combine high-performance, three-dimensional (3D) fixed LiDAR with artificial intelligence (AI) object recognition technology.
The company has previously demonstrated its technological capabilities by supplying the “LiDAR-based Parking Guidance System (LPGS)” and the “LiDAR-based Congestion Management System (LCAS)” to Korea Airports Corporation and Korea Expressway Corporation, among others.
A company representative stated, “This agreement marks a starting point for SOS Lab’s LiDAR solutions, which have been validated through delivery to domestic public institutions, to make a full-fledged entry into the North American market. We plan to expand the supply of intelligent LiDAR systems to major infrastructure sites in North America by leveraging LG CNS’s global sales network and IT capabilities.”
SOS Lab is currently focusing on expanding the LiDAR ecosystem, centering on smart infrastructure, smart factories (digital twins), autonomous driving, and robotics.
LiDAR is a core sensor technology that collects three-dimensional spatial data in real time. It is considered an essential technology for next-generation infrastructure systems, as it provides the data needed to implement AI-based perception and decision-making functions, going beyond simple monitoring.
