Vows to Lead a Grand Transformation Through "Speed, Innovation, and Communication"
The Saemangeum Development Authority welcomed a new head on May 18. Moon Sungyo, the 8th Administrator, officially assumed his duties after holding his inauguration ceremony that day.
In his inaugural address, Administrator Moon emphasized that Saemangeum has gained a significant opportunity amid the era of major energy and AI transformation, as well as the national policy direction of region-led growth. He stressed that this is an important turning point for the Saemangeum project. He added, "It is a great honor, as well as a serious responsibility, to participate in a project that will newly establish a future growth axis for Korea."

Recently, Saemangeum has been attracting continuous investments in the secondary battery and renewable energy sectors, drawing attention as a center for industrial transformation. The government is also focusing on fostering Saemangeum as a hub for advanced strategic industries and eco-friendly energy industries.
Administrator Moon is considered the right person to lead the Saemangeum project—which is still in its early development phase—with speed, owing to his extensive administrative experience in large-scale national projects such as the construction of Sejong City.
