Jinil Park Appointed as New Director of the National Jinju Museum

On May 18, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism appointed Jinil Park, Curator, as the new Director of the National Jinju Museum.
The new Director, Jinil Park, is an expert in archaeology, having graduated from the Department of Archaeology at Pusan National University and obtained both a master's degree in history and a doctorate in archaeology from the same university's graduate school.

View original imageDirector Park began his public service career in 2002 at the Department of Artifact Management at the National Museum of Korea. He accumulated a wealth of field experience through various roles at the Archaeology and History Department and the Exhibition Division of the National Museum of Korea, as well as at the National Gimhae Museum.
He later served as Chief Curator at the National Cheongju Museum and the National Gwangju Museum, earning recognition for his expertise across all aspects of museum operations, including exhibitions, research and surveys, and artifact management.
In his inauguration remarks, Director Park stated, "I will do my utmost to ensure that the ongoing relocation and construction project of the National Jinju Museum proceeds without delay," adding, "I will focus all my efforts on establishing the National Jinju Museum as a leading cultural institution representing the history and culture of South Gyeongsang Province."

Meanwhile, the National Jinju Museum is currently pursuing its relocation and construction project, with construction set to begin this year and the opening targeted for 2029.
