SK Telink Signs Starlink Supply Agreements with Major Korean Shipping Companies Including HMM and Pan Ocean
"Partner for Maritime Low Earth Orbit Satellite Communications"
On May 18, SK Telink announced that it has signed agreements to supply Starlink services to leading domestic shipping companies, including HMM, Pan Ocean, H-Line Shipping, SK Shipping, and KSS Line. SK Telink is the official domestic reseller of Starlink, a low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite communications service.
Once adopted, maritime communications become a critical infrastructure directly linked to operational stability for years. SK Telink emphasized, "This is significant because the contract covers the entire operational fleet, not just a pilot implementation," adding, "It demonstrates that we are recognized as a partner in Korea's maritime low Earth orbit satellite communications market."
SK Telink goes beyond merely providing connectivity, offering integrated solutions. Based on Starlink’s LEO satellites, the company delivers latency around one-tenth that of traditional geostationary satellites and speeds of up to 250 Mbps. The communications network is also designed with an integrated unified threat management (UTM) cybersecurity system tailored for maritime environments.
In particular, SK Telink applies a "pre-consulting and integrated deployment" approach, analyzing each shipping company’s operating routes and work characteristics prior to the contract and reflecting security requirements in the infrastructure design in advance. As a result, commercial service can be launched and operated immediately, and shipping companies do not need to separately contract system integrators (SI) or security vendors.
SK Telink plans to expand its proven integrated solution model for maritime environments to the shipbuilding, offshore plant, public, and defense sectors.
