This market development delegation consists of seven promising local SMEs specializing in the bio and healthcare sectors. Beginning in Almaty on May 18, they will hold export consultation meetings with local buyers in Tashkent from May 20 to 22. Notably, in Tashkent, the consultation meetings will be held in conjunction with the Korea Pavilion at "Pharma Eurasia 2026," a pharmaceutical exhibition, and are expected to attract significant interest from professional buyers across Eurasia.

This is the first in-person CIS export consultation meeting in five years, since the event was held online in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative reflects the demand from local companies to diversify export channels beyond the traditional focus on North America and Southeast Asia.

Central Asia, with its abundant resources and population, is actively modernizing its healthcare infrastructure. In particular, as a key geopolitical hub connecting the entire CIS region, the area is drawing attention as a new strategic market for Korean companies, especially as interest in and demand for K-bio and healthcare products are rapidly increasing.

The overseas market development delegation project supports local SMEs that face challenges entering foreign markets by providing a foundation for export through these consultation meetings. The current CIS Market Development Delegation is hosted by Seongnam City and jointly organized by the Seongnam Industry Promotion Agency and Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA). Participating companies receive support for consultation venue and vehicle rentals, buyer matchmaking, interpretation, and airfare, among other services.

A Seongnam City official stated, "Central Asia is a strategic market where demand for K-bio and healthcare products has been rapidly expanding in recent years. We will actively support the participating companies so they can achieve tangible export results with local buyers."
