During Candidate Lee's term as the 8th popularly elected mayor, Yongin Special City accelerated projects by successively approving remodeling plans for six aging apartment complexes in Suji District: Choeip Village (Dong-A, Samik, and Punglim Apartments), Bowon Apartment, Dongbu Apartment, Suji Triachae, Hanguk Apartment, and Seongbok Station River Park.
As a result, residents of Choeip Village and Bowon Apartment in Pungdeokcheon-dong, Suji District, selected POSCO E&C as the construction company and began the relocation process. The project is proceeding smoothly, with Choeip Village aiming to complete relocation by early June and Bowon Apartment by late June. Choeip Village will increase the number of units from 1,620 to 1,713, and Bowon Apartment from 619 to 698, through horizontal extensions.
Additionally, in 2024 and 2025, Dongbu Apartment in Pungdeokcheon-dong will undergo a horizontal extension from 612 to 684 units, with POSCO E&C responsible for construction. Hanguk Apartment will expand from 416 to 470 units, with KCC Engineering & Construction as the contractor.
In January this year, Seongbok Station River Park received approval for its remodeling project and will carry out a horizontal extension to increase the number of units from 702 to 805. On February 6, 2026, the remodeling project plan for Suji Triachae Apartment was approved, and the number of units will be increased from 430 to 494 through horizontal extension. POSCO E&C is in charge of construction for Seongbok Station River Park, while SK Ecoplant is responsible for Suji Triachae Apartment.
Through remodeling, these complexes plan to increase the height of basement floors, dramatically expand parking spaces—which previously amounted to only 0.5 spaces per household—and significantly enhance green spaces on the ground level. Candidate Lee emphasized that he would spare no effort in providing comprehensive administrative support to ensure the smooth implementation of remodeling projects for a total of 13 complexes, encompassing 9,592 units, in Suji District.
Candidate Lee stated, "Existing aging apartments have suffered from a severe shortage of parking spaces, causing significant daily inconvenience and conflict among residents. Through remodeling, we will not only fully resolve the parking issue, but also expand individual living spaces and community facilities to greatly improve the residents' quality of life."
Currently, six zones in Yongin—Cheoin Zone 1, Giheung Zones 1 and 2, and Suji Zones 1, 2, and 3—have been designated as reconstruction zones and have received approval for the establishment of cooperative associations. However, since the full implementation of the "Special Act on Maintenance and Support of Aging Planned Cities" on February 3, 2026, progress has been temporarily halted to establish new basic maintenance plans that comply with updated legal standards.
Candidate Lee said, "We will promptly implement the Basic Maintenance Plan for Aging Planned Cities, as required by the law, and actively support reconstruction projects in each zone in a way that provides practical benefits—such as increasing the floor area ratio."

He also stated, "In addition to these apartment and townhouse complexes, we plan to provide up to KRW 200 million per complex for maintenance planning costs, and up to KRW 200 million for safety inspection costs (to be paid post-inspection), in order to support aging multifamily housing complexes that are newly pursuing reconstruction or redevelopment. By increasing support and business viability for reconstruction and redevelopment projects, we will ensure that citizens' residential environments are rapidly improved."
