Customized Investment Attraction Activities Through Visits to Metropolitan Semiconductor Companies
Working-Level Meeting with Related Organizations and Companies Held to Hear Business Challenges
Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province has launched an aggressive campaign to attract investment and provide on-site support to companies, aiming to become a key hub in the metropolitan area’s semiconductor industry belt.
From May 13 to 14, Icheon City visited semiconductor-related companies and educational institutions in major metropolitan areas such as Pyeongtaek, Anseong, Hwaseong, and Seoul, conducting investment consultations and carrying out on-site activities to directly assess industry trends and corporate needs.
During these visits, the city focused on promoting several initiatives: plans to expand investment incentives, customized administrative support for companies, industrial complex and site conditions, and the operation of corporate invitation familiarization tours. Icheon City actively encouraged companies to expand their investment participation. At the same time, the city listened to feedback from the field regarding factory expansion plans, site conditions, regulatory improvements, and practical challenges, and committed to devising effective support measures.
Additionally, through consultations with company representatives, Icheon City gathered opinions on the possibility of expanding investments, factory expansion plans, site selection considerations, various regulations, and business challenges. The city plans to review and develop effective support measures based on this feedback.
Cooperation measures linked to the development of semiconductor industry talent were also discussed. The city explored ways to simultaneously address workforce supply and strengthen industry competitiveness by fostering connections between educational institutions and companies.
As the center of the metropolitan semiconductor industry belt, Icheon City continues to promote policies to enhance its competitiveness in attracting businesses, leveraging its excellent location and industrial infrastructure. In particular, the city plans to further expand investment incentives and improve support systems to conduct even more proactive investment attraction activities in the future.
Furthermore, Icheon City will regularize corporate invitation investment tours, offering opportunities for companies to directly experience major industrial facilities and the investment environment, with the goal of leading to tangible investment decisions.
An official from Icheon City stated, "These on-site visits have strengthened the foundation for attracting investment through close communication with companies," adding, "We will continue to expand semiconductor industry investment attraction in the province through customized support that meets corporate needs and proactive, on-site activities."

On May 14, Icheon City held a 'Semiconductor Company Council Working-Level Meeting' at the Korea Polytechnic University Semiconductor Convergence Center. The meeting was attended by representatives from 11 related organizations and 7 local semiconductor companies, providing an opportunity to share key projects and listen to companies’ concerns.
Icheon City shared its “Investment Incentive Policy Improvement Plan,” aimed at encouraging active investment from local semiconductor companies, as well as support measures for fostering materials, parts, and equipment (MPE) companies. The city also promoted tailored policies such as “on-site child-rearing counseling for companies” to improve living conditions for workers.
Participating organizations introduced their ongoing semiconductor-related projects and support programs for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), while also gathering suggestions from companies on topics such as workforce recruitment, regulatory easing, and technology development.
After the meeting, attendees toured the Korea Polytechnic University Semiconductor Convergence Center’s advanced educational facilities and equipment, and discussed concrete plans for nurturing talent through industry-academia cooperation.
