Limpid to Develop AI Management Platform for Intractable Diseases in Companion Animals
Launch of Integrated Industry-Academia-Hospital-Research Consortium
Limpid, an AI-driven pet healthcare startup, announced on May 14 that it has signed a multilateral memorandum of understanding (MOU) with five domestic organizations for the development of a precision nutrition management platform based on multimodal AI for intractable complex diseases in companion animals.
This agreement was initiated following the selection of the "Technology Development Project for Overcoming Intractable Diseases in Companion Animals," a national research and development (R&D) project for 2026. The five participating organizations are Sookmyung Women's University, Kyungpook National University, Korea Testing Certification (KTC), and LV Veterinary Clinical Center, among others.
These institutions plan to closely collaborate on the early diagnosis (digital biomarkers) and commercialization of precision nutrition therapy solutions targeting four major intractable complex diseases—urinary, digestive, obesity/metabolic, and cardiovascular—using video AI technology.

According to the agreement, Limpid, as the lead institution, will oversee the overall development and commercialization of the platform. Professor Eunju Cha's research team from the College of Engineering at Sookmyung Women's University will be responsible for developing the core AI algorithms and multimodal data analysis. Professor Seulgi Bae's research team from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kyungpook National University will handle clinical validation and demonstration at the university animal hospital, based on veterinary domain expertise. The LV Veterinary Clinical Center will provide actual clinical data and verify treatment efficacy. KTC will support performance evaluation and industrial standardization of the developed AI products and solutions.
The core of this platform is the "digital behavioral biomarker" technology, which integrates and analyzes multimodal data such as behavioral videos of companion animals collected from pet cams (CCTV) and electronic medical records (EMR) to detect early signs of disease. Limpid plans to introduce B2B solutions (for animal hospitals) and B2C solutions (for pet owners) within this year, which will provide early alerts to caregivers before disease onset and suggest precision nutrition diets tailored to each disease condition.
