HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Wins Order for Two LNG Carriers Worth KRW 743.9 Billion
Securing Orders for 98 Vessels Including 16 LNG Carriers
USD 1.18 Billion in Orders This Year, Surpassing Half of Annual Target
HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has secured an order for two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers from an Oceania-based shipping company.
HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, the intermediate shipbuilding holding company of HD Hyundai, announced on May 14 that it recently signed a construction contract with a shipping company based in Oceania for two LNG carriers. The total contract amount is KRW 743.9 billion.
The LNG carriers ordered this time will be built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan and are scheduled to be delivered to the shipowner by the first half of 2029.
Including this latest order, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has secured orders for a total of 98 vessels worth USD 11.82 billion so far this year, achieving 50.7% of its annual order target of USD 23.31 billion.
By vessel type, the company has won orders for 16 LNG carriers, 26 container ships, 20 LPG and ammonia carriers, 7 crude oil tankers, 26 product carriers (PCs), 2 pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs), and 1 icebreaker, among others.
