Sancheong County Accelerates Disaster-Prone Area Maintenance with 1.5 Billion Won in Special Allocations
Momentum Expected for Projects to Improve Living Environment and Prevent Disasters
Sancheong County has secured a special allocation of 1.5 billion won from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to improve residents' living environments and expand disaster prevention infrastructure.
According to Sancheong County on May 13, the special allocation will be used for a total of four projects: 400 million won for the installation of a local water supply pipeline in the Pyeongji District (Beommul and Beomseo Villages), 400 million won for the realignment and expansion/paving of County Road No. 8 in Chahwang (Dumujae to Sinchon section), 300 million won for the Cheokji 1 small stream maintenance project, and 400 million won for the preventive maintenance of the Saecheon stream in Galjeon District, Sinan-myeon.
First, the Pyeongji District local water supply pipeline project involves installing new water supply pipelines for rural villages with inadequate water supply.
Through this project, the county plans to establish a stable water supply system and address issues such as water shortages and deteriorating water quality caused by climate change, including droughts.
The realignment and expansion/paving project for County Road No. 8 in Chahwang is intended to improve dangerous sections with poor road alignment. It is expected to alleviate inconveniences caused by increased traffic during the Hwangmaesan Royal Azalea Festival and enhance safety for users.
Additionally, the Cheokji 1 small stream maintenance project will reinforce embankments and improve the riverbed in sections where channel cross-sectional area has decreased due to sedimentation and continuous water flow, thereby preventing embankment collapse and flooding during heavy rains.
The preventive maintenance project for the Saecheon stream in Galjeon District, Sinan-myeon, will restore the stream channel that has been altered by heavy rains and landslides and expand the cross-sectional area. The county expects this will help prevent further damage in disaster-prone areas and protect the lives and property of residents.
With this special allocation, Sancheong County anticipates accelerating disaster prevention projects before the rainy season and gaining further momentum in implementing practical, resident-focused projects that will be felt directly by the community.
