Gyeongsan FKTU Chapter Proposes Key Labor Issues Including Introduction of Free Commuter Buses at Gyeongsan Industrial Complex
Request for Policy Support in Transportation and Welfare Sectors for Workers
The Gyeongsan Regional Chapter of the Federation of Korean Trade Unions has requested policy support to improve transportation convenience for workers in the Gyeongsan Industrial Complex and to address welfare blind spots.
At a meeting held on May 11 at the campaign office of Kim Hyunrak, a preliminary candidate for city council, Yoon Jeongil, head of the Gyeongsan Regional Chapter of the Federation of Korean Trade Unions, conveyed key labor issues in the region and called for practical measures to be implemented.
The meeting was attended by National Assembly member Cho Jiyeon, Hyunil Cho, a preliminary candidate for mayor of Gyeongsan, Yun Kiheon, a preliminary candidate for provincial council, and Kim Hyunrak, a preliminary candidate for city council, who listened to the voices from the field.
The Gyeongsan Regional Chapter of the Federation of Korean Trade Unions requested policy support to improve workers' quality of life, including: providing free commuter buses for workers in the Gyeongsan Industrial Complex; expanding public transportation routes centering on the industrial complex; strengthening the functions and facilities of worker welfare centers; expanding welfare support for workers at small and medium-sized enterprises; supporting the settlement of young workers; and improving parking conditions in industrial complexes.
In addition, the organization also proposed establishing practical welfare support policies to address welfare blind spots for workers at small and medium-sized enterprises.
The participants stated, "Creating a stable working environment for workers who support the industrial sites leads to enhanced industrial competitiveness in the region," adding, "Based on the voices from the field, we will work to support policies in transportation, welfare, and employment."

This meeting was organized to allow the local labor community and political circles to share difficulties faced at industrial sites and discuss effective ways to provide support.
