Gwangjin-gu Hwayang Children's Park Reopens with New Lawn Plaza and Handspan Garden Renovations
A Space for All Generations Next to Konkuk University Food Street
On May 11, the Gwangjin-gu district office in Seoul announced that it has completed facility improvements at Hwayang Children's Park in Hwayang-dong and reopened it as an open relaxation space where all residents can stay and interact.
The park has been redesigned to create a space that both residents and visitors can enjoy, making use of its connection to the Konkuk University Food Street. The opinions of the Konkuk University Merchants Association and local residents were actively incorporated during the renovation process.
The central area of the park has been developed into a spacious grassy open space, allowing people to sit, relax, and enjoy a variety of activities freely. Rest facilities such as canopies, round tables, and benches have also been installed to enhance its function as a daily retreat.
At the park entrance, under seven zelkova trees, a new "Handspan Garden" featuring seasonal flowers has been established. This small urban garden offers a place for a brief rest, while the newly installed rainbow-colored heart sculpture provides a photo spot for visitors.
New play and exercise spaces for children and residents have also been created. To promote physical activity for children, a large trampoline and seesaw equipment have been installed, and exercise equipment has been placed in one corner of the park so that anyone can easily work out and improve their fitness.
The nighttime landscape has also been enhanced. Dandelion lights and rose-shaped lights have been installed throughout the park to create a gentle atmosphere, while tree spotlights illuminate the zelkova trees to highlight the scenery at night. The park now offers an environment that is safe and comfortable for use even after dark.
