In his declaration, he emphasized his special affection for Yongin, mentioning that he opened the city’s first law office and has stood by its citizens for nearly 20 years. He also highlighted his achievement in securing a 21.4 billion won damages award in the "Yongin Light Rail Residents’ Lawsuit," which spanned 12 years.
He went on to say, "I will focus all administrative capabilities to ensure the first Samsung Electronics fab can begin operations early during my term," adding, "By connecting the surrounding new towns and the Free Economic Zone, I will build 'Yongin, the world’s No.1 city' that attracts global companies and talent."
He further pledged, "With the establishment of the Yongin-Bundang Express Railway (YTX), the expedited launch of the Southern Gyeonggi Metropolitan Railway, and the early confirmation of the Central Region Metropolitan Express Railway (JTX), we will usher in a transportation revolution that allows access from Yongin to the Gangnam area within about 30 minutes, thereby improving the quality of life for citizens."
Candidate Hyun stressed, "Yongin should not be an 'isolated city' fighting the government, but a city that creates the future together. With the combined strength of President Lee Jaemyung’s central government, Gyeonggi Province, and the National Assembly, we will accelerate stalled projects and surely fulfill the long-held wishes of our citizens."
Choo Mi-ae, candidate for Gyeonggi Province Governor, remarked in her congratulatory address, "Hyun Geuntaek’s extensive administrative experience and strong drive will change the future of Yongin," adding, "In this election, we must reclaim Yongin and ensure that the world-class semiconductor cluster in southern Gyeonggi is developed quickly."
