The event was attended by local political figures, including Min Hyung-bae, Democratic Party candidate for Governor of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City, Park Woo-ryang, candidate for Governor of Sinan County, and Kim San, candidate for Governor of Muan County, who all expressed their support.
In particular, Lee Ho-kyun, President of Mokpo Science University, who competed against Kang in the party primary, agreed to serve as joint head of the campaign committee, which is being interpreted as a symbolic display of party unity within the Democratic Party.
Kang emphasized, "Although we competed during the primary, our goal of developing Mokpo is the same," adding, "Now is the time to unite our strength and earn the trust of the citizens."
The event began with a cultural performance and a promotional video, followed by congratulatory addresses, video messages, and a speech from the candidate.
Kang stated, "Today is not just the opening of a campaign office, but a promise to revive a stagnating Mokpo," pledging, "I will solve the problems Mokpo faces, such as the outflow of young people and the stagnation of the local economy."
He continued, "I want to be recognized as someone who proves himself with results, not words," promising, "I will create a city where money circulates, young people return, and citizens feel real change."
He also said, "Rather than showy administration, I will prove performance through achievements," presenting a core vision of being a 'mayor who works.'
Kang appealed for support, saying, "This election is not just a political contest, but a choice that will determine the future of Mokpo. Please judge who will be the one to work with responsibility until the end."
