“On the Level of Taylor Swift”…‘BTSnomics’ Shakes the World
Foreign Media: "On Par with Taylor Swift and Coldplay"
Economic Impact of 160 Billion Won Estimated from Just Three Mexico Concerts
There is growing analysis that the world tour of BTS is creating a phenomenon known as 'BTSnomics,' generating massive economic effects not only in the concert industry but also across tourism, accommodation, and consumption overall.
According to Yonhap News, citing BTS's agency Big Hit Music, the group's world tour 'ARIRANG' is having a tremendous economic impact in global markets. Big Hit Music stated, "BTS's activities are invigorating accommodation, tourism, and consumption in every city they visit, going beyond concert revenue and establishing themselves as an economic phenomenon."

Foreign media have projected the total revenue from this tour to be approximately 1.8 billion dollars (about 2.7 trillion won). This figure is said to rival the all-time highest-grossing tours, such as Taylor Swift's 'The Eras Tour' and Coldplay's 'Music of the Spheres World Tour.'
Some analysts say that the economic impact of BTS has become a new global consumption phenomenon, following the so-called 'Taylornomics.' The ripple effects extend not only to concert ticket sales but also to spending on accommodation, tourism, transportation, and merchandise (MD).
Their concert in Mexico, in particular, has generated significant buzz locally. Big Hit Music estimated that BTS's three performances in Mexico, starting from May 7 (local time), would create an economic effect of about 107.5 million dollars (approximately 160 billion won). This is reportedly higher than the four performances of Taylor Swift's 'The Eras Tour' in Mexico City in 2023. According to data from the local Chamber of Commerce, Swift's concerts created an economic effect of about 58.8 million dollars at that time.
BTS's visit to Mexico also drew attention from major global media outlets. Claudia Sheinbaum, President of Mexico, announced at a press conference that she would open the presidential palace balcony to BTS. When BTS appeared on the balcony, tens of thousands of fans reportedly filled the square.
