Attempted Murder of Husband with Drugged Alcohol... Taekwondo Studio Head in Her 20s and Employee in Her 40s Conspired
Arrested at the Scene for Aggravated Assault with a Weapon
Investigation Uncovers Plot to Kill Using Drugged Alcohol
Suspects Claim Depression and Panic Disorder
It has been revealed that an employee at a taekwondo studio conspired with the head instructor in an attempt to murder her husband, with the two having planned the crime for over ten days. This has drawn significant attention to their motives.
According to Yonhap News on May 8, the Wonmi Police Station in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province is investigating a woman in her 20s, identified as Ms. A, who is the head instructor at the taekwondo studio, and Ms. B, a staff member in her 40s, on charges including attempted murder.
The investigation into this case began at around 6:30 p.m. on May 6, when Ms. A was arrested by the police. At the time, Ms. A wielded a weapon at Ms. B's husband, Mr. C, who is in his 50s, at a house in Wonmi-gu, Bucheon. Mr. C sustained injuries to his neck and fingers as a result of Ms. A's actions, but his life is not in danger.
The police initially arrested Ms. A at the scene on charges of aggravated assault, suspecting an impulsive act that occurred during an argument. However, the case took a new turn after investigators found text messages exchanged between Ms. A and Ms. B.
It was discovered that the two discussed, via text, a plan to kill Mr. C by giving him alcohol laced with drugs. In fact, a bottle of alcohol suspected to contain drugs was found in the refrigerator at Ms. B's residence. The police have requested a chemical analysis from the National Forensic Service. Furthermore, the police confirmed that about 11 days before Ms. A’s arrest, on April 25, the two had stored the alcohol in the refrigerator. Accordingly, the police decided to charge Ms. A with attempted murder and preparation to commit murder, rather than aggravated assault, and Ms. B was also urgently arrested on a charge of preparation to commit murder.
The police believe the suspects targeted Mr. C, who often drank alone, and planned the crime accordingly. The drug intended for the crime is presumed to have been prepared by Ms. A. The police have concluded that both suspects had already begun actions toward committing murder and plan to request arrest warrants for both on charges of attempted murder.

However, the exact motive behind Ms. A and Ms. B’s actions has not yet been determined. While various speculations about their motive are circulating online, nothing has been confirmed so far. The two have reportedly stated during police questioning that they suffer from depression and panic disorder. A police official said, "It has not been confirmed whether the suspects committed the crime due to depression and panic disorder," adding, "We will continue to investigate the suspects' motives."
