Maintaining the Highest Grade in Safety Management for Consecutive Years
The Korea Water Resources Survey and Technology Institute (President Lee Younggi) announced on May 7 that it achieved the highest grade—Grade 2 (Good)—for the second consecutive year in the “2025 Public Institution Safety Management Grade Assessment,” which is organized by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and conducted by a panel of private sector experts.

The assessment examines safety management systems for four major risk factors—workplaces, construction sites, facilities, and research facilities—and assigns grades accordingly. In the 2025 assessment, a total of 104 public institutions were evaluated. No institutions received Grade 1, making Grade 2 the highest grade awarded.
The institute has steadily improved its safety management level by continuously implementing field-oriented preventive activities and effective safety management systems. In particular, it received high marks for (i) operating a self-regulatory prevention system centered on risk assessment, (ii) promoting a worker-participatory safety culture, (iii) strengthening safety management for subcontractors, (iv) providing site-specific safety training, and (v) conducting battery fire prevention activities.
Additionally, since first receiving a Grade 4 in the safety management grade assessment in 2021, the institute has consistently improved, achieving Grade 3 in 2022 and 2023, and Grade 2 in both 2024 and 2025. Notably, since participating in the assessment, the institute has not experienced a single major accident, demonstrating the stable operation of its prevention-focused safety management system. This achievement was positively reflected in the most recent evaluation.
