Dong-gu, Gwangju Gains Positive Response for Easy-to-Understand 'Welfare Benefits SNS Video'
Enhancing Accuracy and Credibility
by Explaining Key Welfare Programs
A welfare benefits video on social media, directly explained by a public official from Dong-gu, Gwangju, has received a positive response, surpassing several thousand views.
On May 7, Dong-gu, Gwangju announced that it has been receiving positive feedback from residents for its video series, 'Welfare Team Leader Explains Welfare Benefits,' which features welfare officials directly explaining key welfare programs.
Recently, Dong-gu produced a series of short videos, each under five minutes, to help residents easily understand major welfare programs such as the National Basic Livelihood Security, Single-Parent Family Support, Basic Pension, and Emergency Welfare Assistance.
The videos break down complex welfare terminology—such as recognized income, conversion of property into income, and automobile criteria—into everyday language. Welfare officials carefully explain eligibility criteria, support details, and application procedures based on the actual guidelines they use in their work. The fact that frontline practitioners provide direct explanations enhances both the accuracy and credibility of the information.
After being posted on YouTube, the episode on the National Basic Livelihood Security surpassed 1,000 views within four weeks, while the videos on Single-Parent Family Support and Basic Pension each exceeded 500 views, reflecting steady interest. The videos are structured to deliver the key points in a short amount of time, maximizing the effectiveness of information delivery.
The videos can be viewed on Dong-gu District Office's YouTube channel, 'Byulbyul Donggu.' Dong-gu plans to continue using YouTube and other online platforms to provide tailored welfare information in an easily understandable format for all residents.
Residents' reactions have also been positive. One resident shared, "I found welfare programs difficult to understand, but after being guided to the video by the community center, I understood them right away." Another resident said, "Thanks to the video, I was able to check in advance whether I was eligible for support."
