Hwawoo Recruits Former Ulsan Nambu Police Chief Superintendent Kim Sangmoon
Strengthening Capabilities in Criminal Practice, Including Police Investigation Response
Hwawoo LLC has recruited former Ulsan Nambu Police Station Chief Superintendent Kim Sangmoon (Judicial Research and Training Institute Class 35) as a partner attorney in its Criminal Defense Group.
According to the legal community on May 7, Attorney Kim Sangmoon, who has recently joined, graduated from Simi High School in Daegu and the Department of Law at Korea University. He passed the 45th National Bar Exam in 2003. After completing the Judicial Research and Training Institute, Kim began his career as Head of the Investigation Division at Guri Police Station in 2006 and has served for approximately 20 years in positions including Chief of Ulsan Nambu Police Station, Director of Investigation Review at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, Chief of Seoul Bangbae Police Station, Head of the Criminal Division at Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency, and Head of the Investigation Division at Chungbuk Provincial Police Agency.
Hwawoo plans to leverage the addition of Attorney Kim Sangmoon to provide optimized strategies for effective advocacy and protection of procedural defense rights at the increasingly important police investigation stage, especially in light of changes in the investigative structure such as the abolition of the prosecution office and the establishment of the Serious Crime Investigation Agency. Furthermore, by collaborating with former prosecutors-turned-attorneys, the firm aims to establish an integrated response system covering all aspects of criminal cases, thereby further strengthening its response capabilities.
