Established in 1998 to promote the value of "nurturing true individuals," the award is the most prestigious education prize in Korea. To date, it has awarded a total of 3,255,000,000 won in prize money to 115 recipients (individuals and organizations).
The 28th Kyobo Education Awards will recognize individuals and organizations who have contributed to educational advancement in four categories: nurturing true individuals, fostering creative talent, lifelong education, and future innovation.
Winners in each category will receive a prize of 30 million won, with a total of 120 million won in prize money and a commemorative trophy awarded across all categories.
The Nurturing True Individuals category honors educators who foster honesty, integrity, and continual self-growth, and who help cultivate true individuals dedicated to building a cooperative society.
The Fostering Creative Talent category recognizes educators who, based on the spirit of challenge and cooperation, have fostered creativity necessary for society and contributed to social progress and innovation.
The Lifelong Education category awards educators or organizations that have contributed to the realization of lifelong education and a lifelong learning society. The Future Innovation category honors educators or organizations striving to pioneer and implement new areas in future education.
Nominations may be submitted by representatives of education-related organizations or social groups, experts in the education field (professors, teachers, researchers), or by two or more education-related professionals or students.
The application deadline is May 31, and nomination guidelines can be downloaded from the foundation’s website.
