S-Energy Signs Definitive 3MW Solar Module Contract in Middle East...Expanding Market with Next-Generation HJT Technology
S-Energy is accelerating its overseas business expansion by signing a definitive contract to supply next-generation solar modules in the Middle East market. In Korea, the company has also succeeded in winning a public floating solar power project, raising expectations for a rebound in performance.
On May 7, S-Energy announced that it had finalized a definitive contract for the first batch of 3MW within a 20MW supply agreement (MOU) for solar modules with its local partner in the Middle East. The company plans to pursue an additional follow-up contract in June.
The core of this contract is HJT (Heterojunction) solar module technology. HJT modules combine a structure of crystalline silicon and amorphous silicon, featuring higher efficiency and superior temperature characteristics compared to conventional single-junction modules.
In particular, in the desert environments of the Middle East where temperatures exceed 50 degrees Celsius, these modules attract attention in the local market because they experience relatively lower output degradation at high temperatures, thus improving power generation efficiency. S-Energy has further strengthened its product competitiveness for the Middle Eastern environment by combining this with its previous experience in obtaining the world's first international certification for desert-specific modules based on 'Mirror Backsheet' technology.
The company is also continuing its success in the domestic public sector. Recently, S-Energy won a contract for the manufacturing, procurement, and installation of floating solar power facilities in the Wolgye district, commissioned by the Korea Rural Community Corporation, worth approximately 1.1 billion won.
S-Energy explained that this award once again demonstrated the quality of its products and its construction capabilities by passing the strict technical evaluation required by public institutions. At the same time, the company has laid the foundation for expanding its market share in the high-growth floating solar market.
The company plans to further strengthen its efforts to capture the local market, using this first definitive contract in the Middle East as a springboard. Additional contracts for the remaining MOU volume are targeted for June, and the strategy is to expand business operations throughout the entire Middle East region in the future.
A representative from S-Energy stated, "HJT heterojunction modules are a technology that can deliver optimal performance in high-temperature regions such as the Middle East," adding, "By combining our know-how in optimizing modules for desert use, we are generating strong synergy."
The representative further added, "Based on the government's green procurement support policy, we will proceed with follow-up contracts without delay and strengthen our competitiveness in specialized markets such as floating solar, thereby establishing a foundation for sustainable growth."
