Content Story Competition... Total Prize Fund of 320 Million Won
Submissions Open from May 6 to 19
Fifteen Works to Be Selected in Categories Including Performance, Webtoons, and Video
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency announced on May 6 that they will be accepting submissions for the "Korea Content Awards - Story Division" until May 19. A total of 15 works will be selected, with a combined prize fund of 320 million won.
The Story Division of the Korea Content Awards is a leading government recognition program in Korea, aimed at discovering creative material that can be expanded into various forms of content. This year, the competition will cover five categories: performance, comics (webtoons), animation, video (drama/film), and publishing.
Participants must submit a treatment including a synopsis and character descriptions, along with a completed manuscript for each category. Each participant may submit up to three works, and the same work can be entered in up to three categories.
The judging will be conducted in three stages (preliminary, main, and final rounds) based on originality, completeness, marketability, and production viability. A verification process for works generated by artificial intelligence (AI) will be introduced to enhance fairness.
Awards will be given as follows: one Grand Prize (President's Award), four Excellence Prizes (Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award), and ten Merit Prizes (Korea Creative Content Agency Award). The awards ceremony will take place in December.
Last year, the competition rate was 163.2 to 1. Award-winning works have been adapted into various forms of content. "Joseon Psychiatrist Yoo Se Poong" (2016 Merit Prize) was published as a book in 2018 and later adapted into a drama, "Joseon Psychiatrist Yoo Se Poong," in 2022. "The Dignity of Joseon" (2024 Grand Prize) and "Romance Byulgok" (2022 Excellence Prize) were also adapted into a book and a musical, respectively.
