Gwangju Urban Corporation Recruiting 100 Preliminary Tenants for City Center Purchase-Lease Housing
30% of Market Rate Rent, Up to 20 Years Residency
Applications Accepted May 12-15
Gwangju Urban Corporation is recruiting 100 preliminary tenants for its purchase-lease housing program, targeting low-income residents without homes who are struggling to find housing. The corporation purchases existing homes in the city center and offers them at rental rates set at 30% of the market price. If eligibility is maintained, tenants can reside for up to 20 years.
On May 4, Gwangju Urban Corporation announced the recruitment notice for the "2026 General Purchase-Lease Housing" preliminary tenants, selecting a total of 100 households. The units are divided by household size: 40 units for one- to two-person households (with an exclusive area of 50㎡ or less), and 60 units for three- to four-person households (over 50㎡ and up to 85㎡).
Eligibility is limited to adult, non-homeowner household members residing in Gwangju as of the announcement date. Priority is given to recipients of basic living or medical benefits, single-parent families eligible for protection, and people with disabilities whose income is 70% or less of the standard median income.
Applications will be accepted for four days starting May 12. Applicants must visit the administrative welfare center in their residential district and submit the required documents.
The purchase-lease housing program is a public housing welfare initiative in which the government purchases and renovates existing properties such as multi-family homes or studio apartments, then leases them at affordable prices. The initial lease period is two years, and if eligibility is maintained, tenants can renew their contract in two-year increments for up to 20 years.
