Korean Film Archive Releases 30 Classic Films Recommended for Youth
“Piagol,” “The Housemaid,” and “Robot Taekwon V” Among Selected Films
The Korean Film Archive released a list of 30 “Recommended Films for Youth” on April 29. Under the concept of a “Guide to Korean Classic Cinema,” the archive selected major works from Korean film history that are relatable for young viewers.
The selection process involved film critic Geum Donghyeon, Busan International Film Festival programmer Park Sunyoung, director Jang Geonjae, and Lee Jiyoon, deputy head of the research and curatorial team at the archive.

The recommended list is organized into six categories. The history and society section includes titles such as “Piagol” and “Hellflower.” The relationships and coming-of-age section features “Hometown of the Heart” and “The Eldest Son,” while the film history and genre section includes “The Prosecutor and the Teacher” and “The Housemaid.” The youth and romance section comprises “Youth Line” and “Romance Papa.” The youth growth section includes “School Excursion” and “The High School Fool,” and the animation section features “Hopiwa Chadolbawi” and “Robot Taekwon V.”
