Gyeonggi Institute of Health and Environment Selected as Outstanding Analytical Institution in Water Quality
The Gyeonggi Institute of Health and Environment has been selected as an outstanding analytical institution in the field of water quality.
On April 29, the Gyeonggi Institute of Health and Environment announced that it had been recognized as an outstanding analytical institution in the water quality sector of the "2026 Domestic and International Proficiency Test," having received a "satisfactory" evaluation in all categories.
The proficiency test is a system in which multiple institutions analyze the same unknown sample and compare the results to evaluate testing and analytical capabilities. The domestic proficiency test is managed by the National Institute of Environmental Research for environmental pollution inspection agencies, while the international proficiency test is overseen by the U.S. Environmental Resource Associates (ERA) and involves analytical institutions from around the world.
This year, the domestic proficiency test was conducted from February 24 to March 27 with participation from over 520 institutions, while the international proficiency test took place from February 16 to April 2 with around 80 institutions participating.
The Gyeonggi Institute of Health and Environment received a "satisfactory" rating in all 16 domestic water quality items (such as BOD, total organic carbon, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, etc.) and all 16 international water quality items (including zinc, barium, sulfate ion, chloride ion, etc.).
