Co-developed by S&P Dow Jones Indices in the United States and RobecoSAM in Switzerland, this global ESG evaluation index includes only about 250 companies, representing the top 10 percent, in the World Index.
Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance’s consecutive inclusion in the DJSI World Index for two years is the result of efforts across all areas, including climate crisis response, transparent information disclosure, and ethical and compliant management. In this year's evaluation, the company received high marks for its systematic climate change response strategy and inclusive finance practices.
In the environmental sector, the company is carrying out various environmental management initiatives, such as expanding eco-friendly investments, implementing its carbon neutrality roadmap, and increasing the transition to renewable energy. In particular, it launched the social safety net network 'The LINK' to implement measures for climate crisis response and disaster prevention.
In the social sector, the company co-designed a 'Job Incubating Model' with the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities to help people with disabilities develop job expertise and build their careers. Through a work agreement with the Ministry of Education, it is also supporting the independence of youth with disabilities by fostering a culture of disability awareness.
In the governance sector, the company has further strengthened the reliability of its governance and the independence of its operations by establishing a transparent and independent decision-making system centered on the ESG Committee within the board of directors.
