HD Hyundai Teams Up with Korea Science Academy to Nurture STEM Talent
Business Agreement Signed with Korea's First Science Academy for Gifted Students
Creative Research Center Established; Support for Talent Development and Research
HD Hyundai announced on April 28 that it will join forces with a science academy for gifted students to nurture STEM talent.
On this day, HD Hyundai signed a business agreement with Korea Science Academy of KAIST, an affiliate of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). Korea Science Academy of KAIST is the first science high school for gifted students in Korea to offer research-centered education. Over the past 11 years, all its graduates have advanced to science and engineering universities.
Through this agreement, HD Hyundai will provide Korea Science Academy of KAIST with support for talent development and research, special lectures on science, technology, and entrepreneurship, as well as field trips and hands-on experiences at HD Hyundai affiliates. In particular, the company will cooperate with the school year-round in line with the school’s academic schedule, establishing a long-term partnership rather than a one-off event. This aims to support students in science and engineering as they pursue research and explore career paths.
The signing ceremony was attended by Jang Kwangpil, Head of Future Technology Institute at HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, and Choi Jongbae, Principal of Korea Science Academy of KAIST, among other officials. There was also a plaque unveiling to mark the opening of the "KSA-HD Hyundai Creative Research Center," which will be used for research and practice.
Jang Kwangpil stated, "In the midst of rapidly changing technological environments and global competition, the importance of science and technology talent is greater than ever," adding, "Through this agreement with Korea Science Academy of KAIST, which has led science and engineering education in Korea, we will take the lead in nurturing STEM talent."
