KOFIA Launches 'Single-Stock Leverage Education' Course on April 28
If You Have No Experience with Leveraged Investing or Pre-Education,
You Must Complete an Additional Hour for a Total of Two Hours
Starting April 28, investors will be able to take the mandatory pre-education course required to invest in single-stock leveraged and inverse ETFs and ETNs.
The Korea Financial Investment Association’s Korea Institute of Financial Investment Education launched the online course “Pre-Transaction Education for Single-Stock Leveraged and Inverse Listed Products” on the same day. This course must be completed before trading newly launched single-stock leveraged and inverse products.
This course was introduced as an investor protection measure, following the launch of leverage (±2x) products based on leading domestic single stocks. It aims to ensure investors are fully aware of the high risks associated with leveraged products before investing.
Anyone wishing to invest in single-stock leveraged and inverse products listed in Korea or overseas must complete this newly introduced one-hour course. If an investor already has experience trading domestic or overseas leveraged ETPs, or has completed the existing domestic or overseas leveraged ETP guide course, only this one-hour education is required.
If the investor has no prior trading experience with domestic or overseas leveraged ETPs and has not completed the leveraged ETP guide education, a total of two hours of integrated education is required: one hour for the domestic and overseas leveraged ETP guide course and one hour for the pre-transaction education for single-stock leveraged listed products.
The pre-transaction education course for single-stock leveraged products highlights the features and high risks of single-stock leveraged and inverse products, emphasizing the negative compounding effect and the leverage effect.
Additionally, quizzes and a pre-investment checklist on key topics have been included to increase the effectiveness of the education. Through this, investors are expected to better understand the products and improve their ability to make sound investment decisions.
